crossgar Crossgar, Co. Down. Photo supplied by Marcus Simms - thanks, Marcus. Only one flywheel carries a handle, and it looks as if it was designed in that way. Could this be why the pump isn't set symmetrically in its alcove - to provide optimum space for the person using the pump? It featured on the Crossgar Women's Institute's golden anniversary mugs in 1998.

Markings: A "1" stamped on the end of the axle/crankshaft.
