north luffenham The town pump at North Luffenham, Rutland, with a nasty crack in its barrel and some metal straps of unknown function either side of it. Photos supplied by John Hurst - thanks, John - who has also put forward various theories as to the original purpose of the metal straps. Subsequent closer examination suggests that they were used to hold in place a long-gone pump housing.
