Guernsey and Herm

I bagged about 40 pumps around the island during my survey of Apr 2010, including most of those previously catalogued and renovated by the Guernsey authorities, although I have to admit to missing one or two them whilst getting lost driving through the maze of little lanes. In my travels I came across 14 additional pumps, which are included in the total below. Return visits in May 2013 and Apr 2016 produced a further 8 and 6 pumps respectively, althought there are many more in Guernsey and the small domestic pumps are practically impossible to catalogue. My thanks to Paul Le Pelley, the curator at the Folk and Costume Museum, for being so helpful on our first visit, and to Dr. Jason Monaghan and Helen Glencross at Guernsey Museum in Candie Gardens, St Peter Port, for providing invaluable information in 2008, when I first started planning the survey.
