le grais In Le Grais Lane, off Route de L'Issue, St. Andrew. The lead tank carries an embossed inscription: le grais
ABH
1804
Which is the oldest date I've found on a Guernsey pump. Above it an engraved plaque carries the words:
RESTORED IN 1985 BY
ST ANDREWS PARISH
TO CELEBRATE
40 YEARS OF PEACE
MAY 9-1945-85
We've subsequently been told that this 1985 restoration made use of a replacement pump which came from a farmhouse at La Ramée, St. Peter Port.
