An enormous pitcher pump, set well
above normal reach, atop a rough concrete base on Route de la Passée,
St. Sampson. This model is very similar indeed to one at the Folk & Costume
Museum in Saumarez Park, Forest, which we were told was probably German in
origin. The concrete base has a look of wartime construction, and my guess is
that the pump was installed here to fill water carts or mobile water
tanks. |
