Warwick
(click on photograph to bring up bigger/better
version).
Found
this beauty in the cellar of an old house near Warwick.
Markings: A nameplate on the frame says: "Owens & Co.,
Engineers, Whitefriars St., London". No visible markings on the working
barrels.
Manufacturer: S. Owens,
London.
The
(missing) handle is connected via a 1:2 ratio wooden-toothed gearing to a
twin-throw crank, with a large flywheel attached to the other end of the
primary shaft. Two operating rods lead from the cranks, each connected to its
own working barrel via a bow. The lead delivery pipes have been cut off
short.
Outside
the Lord Leycester Hospital, Warwick. Thanks to Sandy Scaife for the
photo.
