On a farm near Lowsonford, Warks. An interesting pump arrangement,
and we've only seen one like this before, in Ridgewell,
Essex. The geared device is known as a Pump Jack, and a very similar one
features in a 1940 Climax catalogue. In it they quote: "By fitting this pump
jack the unit is converted into a power head for belt drive. To revert from
engine to hand power, it is only necessary to remove a single bolt from the
crosshead and fix it in the handle connection". Thanks to Ann Williams for the
photos. Markings on pump: Lion. Manufacture of pump: Joseph Evans. |
