The pumphouse in The Square, at Bradworthy, Devon, contains a wood-cased pump and a slate trough. The gates, although chained, can be opened. Photo on the left supplied by Richard Holladay - thanks, Richard. At the front is the inscription: | ||||

Martin Humphrey recalls that as a child "We drank [from] it & it was wonderful - far better than any other water we'd had." Elsewhere I've found that apparently a water diviner was paid ten shillings to determine the right location for the pump house, and water was eventually found at a depth of 40ft. | ||||
