West Wratting, Cambs (click on photograph to bring up bigger/better version).

west wratting Under a smart shelter at West Wratting, Cambs, erected in 1903 as a memorial to Queen Victoria. The pump has a most unusual mechanism, only seen in three other pumps so far - Clavering, Elmdon and Hadstock, Essex - and which takes a bit of fathoming out. Photos by John Hurst - thanks, John - who has also come up with the theory of operation.

Markings: None.

Manufacturer: Possibly Charles Lack of Cottenham.
