In the High St., West
Malling, Kent. The term for the decoration on the dome that the urn is standing
on is "gadrooned" - a new one on me, but which I've checked and found to mean a
"convex molding carved with ornamental beading or reeding". Photo supplied by
Deb Jones via John Gow - thanks, both.
Markings: Dated 1850, and carries an inscription recording the
re-instatement of the pump by the Royal Engineers in 1977.
