[Thanks to John Hurst for the photos.]

water newton This wooden-boxed pump at Water Newton, Cambs, was heavily overgrown until revealed after some determined work with a pair of secateurs. The boxing only extends to three sides of the pump, and a look around the back shows the simple lead barrel.

Markings: None, except for the date "1974" carved into the front wooden facing - but the pump mechanism is clearly old.

Manufacturer: Unk.
