waresley Near the church at Waresley, Cambs, this lead pump is protected by iron banded octagonal wooden boxing . Our thanks to Michael Burgess for the two main photos. An article in Cambridgeshire Life, dated Oct 1988, says that at that time it was still stuffed with straw. A photo taken in 2002 shows the carved shield above the pump in much better condition than it is nowadays, and our thanks to Grainne Farrington for this photo.
The stone shelter carries an inscription:
