The townspeople of
Thornbury, S. Glos, renovated and re-located their pump under a smart wrought
iron canopy back in 1984, according to the following inscription:
THIS PUMP AND CANOPY WERE ERECTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THORNBURY IN
APRIL 1984
THE PUMP ORIGINALLY STOOD IN BATH ROAD THORNBURY AND THE
CANOPY MADE BY THE ALMONDSBURY FORGE IS A COPY OF THE ORIGINAL REMOVED IN
1925
Markings: None.
Manufacturer: Canopy made by Almondsbury Forge Works Ltd,
Sundays Hill, Almondsbury, Bristol. Pump manufacturer unknown, but there's an
identical one not far away, at Rockhampton.

At Grovesend, near Thornbury. Four years after the first photo, on
the right, this pump is nicely retored. Thanks to Mike Caudwell for the

Markings: "VCI", a rose motif, and
"MADE IN ENGLAND" on the spout.
Manufacturer: Unk, but others exist in Kent's Bank, Cumbs,
and Great Gransden, Cambs.
