By the riverside in Tewkesbury, Glos, this old pump is encased in wood and has a strapped-down handle. Markings: None. Manufacturer: Unk.

I've included this barrel pump, in the quiet Quaker's Courtyard, Tewkesbury, but it's probably not as old as it looks. Markings: An "N" set in a hexagonal surround. Manufacturer: Unk.

Another modern one. Down one of Tewkesbury's many alleyways, this pump's in Well Lane, off the High St.. Markings: a "P" set in a hexagonal surround. Manufacturer: Puteus of Germany.

But this wooden-boxed lead pump in Smith's Court is genuinely old, and sadly rotting away amongst the rubbish bins. Markings: None. Manufacturer: Unk.
