The pump at Bretton,
Flint, was decorated (left) for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, just as it was for
the 1953 coronation. Apparently the villagers were upset when the pump was
removed during a road-widening scheme and insisted that it be re-instated. Good
for them. The cap seems to be a replacement. By 2018 it had been given a new
coat of paint (see right). Markings: "J.RIDGWAY & SONS CHESTER" cast onto the right hand/handle side of the main body of the pump. Manufacturer: Possibly James Ridgway of Castle St., Chester. |
