William Ann Pochin, Edmondthorpe.
William Ann Pochin (1844-1901) was Lord of the Manor of Bourne Abbots and High Sheriff of Leics. He owned a number of properties and in 1849 Barkby Hall was recorded as his principal seat and residence. However, by 1881 it seems that he lived at Edmondthorpe Hall (built 1621). He is credited with establishing and improving many properties locally, which often carry a date and his initials. By 1912, Edmondthorpe Hall was the residence of Victoria Alexandrina, Countess of Yarborough, but during the Second World War it was used as a camp for Italian PoWs, and it burnt down in 1943. The West Lodge remains and is a G II listed building.
