A
nicely-preserved pump at Aghagallon, Co. Antrim. The borehole is reported to be
200ft deep, but my understanding of the design of this type of pump is that it
can't cope with water levels below about 25ft - so the most likely explanation
is that the pump sits atop an aquifer.
Markings: Lion and "Made in England"
